I'm Only Human...

"It doesn't matter if you've failed. If you've been beaten. All that really matters is if you get back up and try again. Because winning is fun, but winning when nobody thought you would, is just awesome!" ~ Unknown

Weight loss this week  - 1 lb.
Weight loss total - 33 lbs.

HAPPY MONDAY!! I hope everyone had a great Easter. I did.. but i slipped. All i can say is I'm only human and I will get back on track. I weighed myself on Sunday and i was so excited that i lost another lb. Yea! :) So what did i do.. I slipped. It was Easter and of course when you visit families and they have all that good bad food laying around. You have to try them. One of my weaknesses is dessert. There was this awesome banana cream pie that my father-in-laws wife made and it was to die for. literally!!

So as we all know when you give in to that craving.. you so regret it the next day. Oh and boy do i ever. I feel like i failed in so many ways. I know I've gained some weight from eating like a PIG... though i didn't eat everything in sight. I ate more that i normally do and now I am feeling it. So now that I've fallen i will get back up and try again. Started the day off with strawberry dannon light & fit yogurt and a bowl of chocolate special k cereal. Going to do some workout tonight after work and I'm gonna get back on track.
I hope everyone has a great week this week.

Overcome...

"Those who think they have not time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness."
– Edward Stanley

Weight loss this week: 3.2 lbs
Weight loss total - 32.2 lbs!!!

This past week i have been sick. With that being said i did manage to keep doing the 2 week challenge. Though i struggled with breathing while doing it i did manage to finish it. Yeah!! :) I've lost 3.2 lbs since being sick. Guess that 's one of the perks of being sick. I've hit my 30 lbs. weight loss goal. yah me!!! Other than that not much to report. Still getting over being sick and hoping this week is a better one. I hope everyone has a great week.

 This week's mamavation post is:

What is one health lesson you want to teach your kids?

I want to teach my kids that exercising does not have to be a chore or a necessity in life. You do it anyone through out the day. You skip, you dance, you run around. As long as you're active that's all that matters. I want them to be able to eat what they want but with good judgement. I don't want them to be eating McDonald's everyday junk food for the matter but I want them to know it's OK to have an ice cream sundae once in a great while. Moderation and Excercising is the key.

Allergies Suck!

"Do what you feel in your heart is right..for you'll be criticized anyway." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

Weight loss this week: 0 lbs.
Weight loss Total: 29 lbs.

This past week has not been a great week for me. Many of you know i vented a little on facebook last week about a co-worker of mine doing a diet. Not any diet. It's call HCG diet drop. What is HCG? HCG drops are homeopathic drops that help curbing your appetite. They naturally boosts metabolism in your body that consequently burns fat. They say to take two drops daily to losing at least 21 pounds in 21 days. People begin with high calorie diet for two days before taking HCG drops and then they should maintain a low calorie diet plan for losing weight effectively. No exercising is recommended. Wow.. co-worker lost 19 lbs in 2 weeks. First thought was.. B**CH how now nice to lose all that without exercising. I was upset just a little bit. For she lost about the same weight i did without all my hard work. Then after awhile and a few encouraging words from friends I know that she'll probably gain it back after a while and I'm okay with that. I'm happy she lost it but i also know that doing it the unhealthy way is not good. So that being said I am still maintaining my 29 lbs. loss and hoping to see my scale move downward some more. I feel like i keep hitting these plateaus. On top of all that I have been battling a bad case of seasonal allergies. If anyone who has allergies know it sucks. I've taken Zyrtec and just switch to Claritin-D. I'm hoping that will work.In the meantime I will just have to look like a puffer fish.

On a much happier note i bit the bullet and bought the Zumba for Wii. I hope i love it as much as everyone says it's great. Will report next week how i did. It's coming in the mail on Tuesday and can't wait. Now off to this week's mamavation question:

What is your #1 challenge when it comes to workouts?

My number one challenge is to stay hydrated while working out. I tend to forget to keep drinking while I'm in the middle of my workout. I just keep going and going and i don't stop till I'm done. By then I'm thirsty as hell. Anyone else have that problem?

Have a great week everyone! Happy Monday!

Feeling Accomplished...

"The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will."
~ Vincent T. Lombardi

For many of you who know me, know that i have type 2 diabetes. What is type 2 diabetes. In type 2 diabetes, the body does not produce enough insulin or the cells ignore the insulin. Insulin is necessary for the body to be able to use glucose for energy. When you eat food, the body breaks down all of the sugars and starches into glucose, which is the basic fuel for the cells in the body. Insulin takes the sugar from the blood into the cells. When glucose builds up in the blood instead of going into cells, it can lead to diabetes complications.

I have been a diabetic since after the birth of my son. I did take care of it for a while then I just basically got fed up with it and got lazy. So i went off of it. Then I had an incident that left me in ICU of 2 weeks that made me realize how important it was for me to take care of myself to be there for my children as they grow up. Long story short I got back on track and started using insulin and pills to keep it under control. Though I do have great news now.. I am officially off insulin.. Yep.. you heard right i don't have to take any insulin shots anymore. My doctor has decided that I can just take metformin pills to keep my blood sugars on track. I am jumping for joy. Though that doesn't mean I can relax in watching what i eat or slack off on my exercising, it literally means i have to be on top of my game now. I have to be more strict in watching what i eat and keep on exercising. With another 2 week challenge starting today, I am excited to say that will keep me on track. This weeks mamavation question...

How do you keep yourself active, when you really don’t feel like working out ?

I take a walk around the block or if I don't feel like walking around that block I do sit ups and crunches in my living room. Makes me feels better knowing I did do something than just be a couch potato.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Teetering again....

“Most people fail, not because of lack of desire, but, because of lack of commitment.”
~Vince Lombardi

weight loss this week: 2 lbs.
weight loss total: 29 lbs.

Happy Monday Everyone!! Another start to another week. This past month has been a roller coaster ride to say the least. With finals, homework and everyday life I feel like i've been pulled all over the place. Though my weight has not much much. I actually lost the 2 lbs I gained last week. (yah me!) I'm still at a total of 29 lbs. weightloss. I feel like I've been tettering on this plateau that I'm stuck on. I just want to hit my 30 lbs. weightloss goal. It's so close. Hopefully I'll get to hit it soon. I'm going to keep thinking positive thoughts and not dwell on it. On a plus note I did get to finish my final exam though I don't know what my final score for the class is. Cross your fingers I want an A. :)

I hope everyone has a great week this week!!

What food did you think was good, but discovered that it’s not?

The one think that i thought was ok was dried fruit. Never realized it contains alot of sugar. Most companies add sugar to them. Make sure you check the nutritional info before eating them. Have a regualar fruit instead.

Stress.. Is NOT my friend

Weight loss this week: 0
Weight gained this week: 2 lbs
Total weight loss : 27 lbs

As you can see from the picture above that is how I am feeling. When I am stressed I just need people to leave me alone. Me and stress do not mix well together somedays. There are days that I can handle it but this past week is not one of them. Read on to see for yourself.

This week has not been the best week for me. I am literally stressed out with school and everything that is going on in my life. I literally have 5 projects due every Monday of every week for one class and 2 projects due every Thursday for one class. For the people that don't know me that well I am going to school to get my BSN in nursing. but for me to do that I have to get my associates in science degree first. So right now I am in school part-time getting my pre-requisites done. Taking 2 classes this semester has killed me. I was doing so good until last week. I did get to do any workouts at all. My eat habits weren't all that great and stepping on the scale this morning only provides what i already knew. I need to get back on the wagon. I gained TWO pounds. Though I know it's not a lot i do feel like I failed in away. I know I'm only human and not perfect so I am brushing it off my shoulders and will get back on track. This week is really stressful since finals for my one class is this Wednesday. Well I hope everyone has a great week. I'm wishing I can fast forward to the weekend so I can get over this bump in the road.

Question of the week for mamavation:
What is your favorite workout to get the heart pumping?

I actually have two favorite workouts. My hip hop abs dance DVD and my EA sports active workout that has a combination of everything. I love feeling my heart race and know that I'm doing something right. What is your favorite workout?

Moderation

Moderation is an ostentatious proof of our strength of character.
~ François de La Rochefoucauld
Weight loss this week: 0 lbs.
Weight loss total: 29 lbs.
This past week while hanging out with my SIL (sister-in-law) she told me she was addicted to food and that she loved food so much it was her weakness. You see she had the lap band done about a year ago. She lost roughly about 70 lbs. very drastically. In the last 4 months she ended up going to the hospital and having the lap band unfilled. For those that don't know what a lap band is it is a laparoscopic adjustable gastric band,  is an inflatable silicone device placed around the top portion of the stomach to treat obesity by reducing excess body fat.As patients lose weight, their bands will need adjustments, or “fills,” to ensure comfort and effectiveness. The gastric band is adjusted by introducing a saline solution into a small access port placed just under the skin. A specialized non-coring needle is used to avoid damage to the port membrane and prevent leakage. Now her lap band is still on but she has no restrictions. Well from someone who just lost 70 lbs. it wasn't a good idea. She gained back about 25 lbs in a mere 3 months. Her love for food got the best of her. She told me the other day that she wanted to get it filled again. I tried my best to sway her not to and to do it naturally. I told her that though she can love all the foods she wants she just needs to learn moderation. Moderation is usually the key to any diet that anyone goes on. If you want a piece of cake why don't you. You don't need a big slice ,how about a small slice just to taste it? I know there's alot of people out there that just can't do moderation but i think it's a skill and process we can all learn to do with and it will all benefit us in the long run. I hope in the end she'll chose the natural way of losing weight. I know she can do it. She just needs more encouragement and support.
What steps have you made so far this year to improve your quality of life?

Steps I've made to improve my quality of life is to completely change my eating habit and incorporated exercises into my daily life. I have done great so far. 29lbs down and can't wait for more.
