Moderation

Moderation is an ostentatious proof of our strength of character.

Weight loss this week: 0 lbs.
Weight loss total: 29 lbs.
This past week while hanging out with my SIL (sister-in-law) she told me she was addicted to food and that she loved food so much it was her weakness. You see she had the lap band done about a year ago. She lost roughly about 70 lbs. very drastically. In the last 4 months she ended up going to the hospital and having the lap band unfilled. For those that don't know what a lap band is it is a laparoscopic adjustable gastric band,  is an inflatable silicone device placed around the top portion of the stomach to treat obesity by reducing excess body fat.As patients lose weight, their bands will need adjustments, or “fills,” to ensure comfort and effectiveness. The gastric band is adjusted by introducing a saline solution into a small access port placed just under the skin. A specialized non-coring needle is used to avoid damage to the port membrane and prevent leakage. Now her lap band is still on but she has no restrictions. Well from someone who just lost 70 lbs. it wasn't a good idea. She gained back about 25 lbs in a mere 3 months. Her love for food got the best of her. She told me the other day that she wanted to get it filled again. I tried my best to sway her not to and to do it naturally. I told her that though she can love all the foods she wants she just needs to learn moderation. Moderation is usually the key to any diet that anyone goes on. If you want a piece of cake why don't you. You don't need a big slice ,how about a small slice just to taste it? I know there's alot of people out there that just can't do moderation but i think it's a skill and process we can all learn to do with and it will all benefit us in the long run. I hope in the end she'll chose the natural way of losing weight. I know she can do it. She just needs more encouragement and support.
What steps have you made so far this year to improve your quality of life?

Steps I've made to improve my quality of life is to completely change my eating habit and incorporated exercises into my daily life. I have done great so far. 29lbs down and can't wait for more.

The Skinny In ME

“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you always got.” – Mark Twain

Weight loss this week: 2 lbs.
Weight loss since I started: 29 lbs.

This week was a good week for me. I stepped on the scale and I've lost 2 lbs. But the really great part was going to the clothing store and trying on a pair of jeans and they FIT. Just not any size though. A size 8!!! Can you believe it!!!  An 8! I was over the moon. All my hard work has paid off. I have gone down 6 sizes in 5 months. So you see the three D's are right. I try to keep thinking it when I get lost. Discipline, Determination, Dedication.

Discipline - Keep at it. You need to Discipline yourself. Good or Bad
Determination - Keep going! Don't give up. It'll pay off in the end
Dedication - Even if you don't feel like doing it. Get Up You ASS and DO IT!

So my advice to anyone losing weight and getting discourage sometimes when we hit that plateau or when we just plain get tired of doing it. DON'T give up. Because the payoff is so worth it in the end. Though this is not my end yet I can't wait till i get there. 20 more lbs. to go and i will have hit my goal weight. Slow and steady i will get there. I just know it takes time.

So you see in the end there is a skinny in everyone. You just have to have the determination, discpline, and dedication for SKIINNY to get out. In the end she will shine. Keep at it.

What would make you feel sexier?

That question is a tough question to answer. I am hardly a girl girl of any type. I would rather be in comfy jeans or comfy sweat pants than in a dress. So when i do get all dolled up I do feel sexy. When i wear a sexy dress and put some make up on I feel like I'm on top of the world. How do you feel sexy?

Happy Valentines Day

"Never Change who you are for a guy. Because if he truely loved you, you wouldn't have to change. If he was truely your Prince Charming, he would love you for you you are, not who he wants you to be." ~ zebraskittles123

Weightloss this week - 2 lbs.
Weightloss to date - 27 lbs.

Can you believe that Valentine's Day is only a day away? I surely can't. Do you have any plans for Valentine's Day? I don't. My husband works nights and i work days so our schedules don't quite work. We will definately celebrate it this coming weekend with a nice dinner and maybe a movie. (if i can drag him to the theather. He's not a big movie guy.) This year I asked my husband not to get me anything for Valentine's Day. Not because I don't want anything, it's just I really don't need anything. My big WANT this year is to take a nice long vacation in June. That is what we are saving for.We are planning on going to Jamaica with the kids.  All i could really go for if he really did want me to buy me something is a day of peace and quiet and not having to do anything around the house. Pretty simple. I've realized that the simple things in life make me happy. I'd rather you tell me and show me how much I mean to you then you buying me expensive gifts. It just means more when it's coming from the heart.

Happy Valentine's Day!
"If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day, so I never have to live without you.” ~Winnie the Pooh

This week has been a good week for me. I lost my 2 lbs. I needed to be at my 27 lb. weightloss goal. I did it. I added a new workout. It's a dvd called hip hop abs. It's kind of like zumba. I LOVE IT! Even my kids love it. They would watch me and dance with me to this new workout.

We also have another 2 week challenge starting Monday. Can't wait for this one. I loved that last one. Are you joining us? If you're not you definately should. You don't know what your missing.

What is your favorite way to relax?

My favorite way to relax is to have the house completely silent and read a good book on my kindle and curled up on the couch. That would be my favorite.

Good Things Come In Small Packages

Weightloss this week - 0 lbs.
Weight loss total 25 lbs.

Happy Monday Everyone!

You know that famous saying "Good things come in small packages."

Well i believe that they do. If you think about it small packages contain amazing gifts. Just like the Tiffany's box that you see above. I love the box. (OK maybe cause it's blue and it's from Tiffany's) But you do realize that inside it's probably something expensive. Tiffany's is an expensive jewelry store. So you see good things come in small packages. Now with that visual in mind you'll have to think next about weight loss. These past two weeks I have hit a plateau. I wish i could say I've over come it but I haven't. I am stuck at the same spot i was two weeks ago. Not gaining any weight but not losing any either is a little bit of a downer. But i picked myself back up and have a new outlook about it. Just like the box I realized that my weight loss comes in increments. (small increments, but I'll take it.) I have lost a total of 25 lbs. since starting mamavation. I did hit my 27 lbs. weight loss goal but ever since after Christmas I haven't moved. I gained 2 lbs back and haven't moved an inch. Though i am thankful I'm not gaining any either. So i am going to keep my head up high and go with it. Like the quote says "Good things come in small packages".  I will see what happens no matter how small it may be I will take it. How has your week been?

What food do you think  is good for your heart?

When I think of this question the first thing that comes to my mind is Cheerios. I love Cheerios. Especially the multi-grain cheerios. Love it to death. It does help that my kids love it too.  Did you know that Cheerios is Certified by the American Heart Association? It's a good source of fiber. Excellent source of iron. Good source of calcium and it's low fat. Gotta love that part. It's a staple in my household. What do you think is a good food for your heart?
